PHILADELPHIA - Posting 21 saves and helping the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team to a 1-0-1 record in the opening week of Atlantic 10 play, the Hawks' freshman goalkeeper Cara Critchlow was recognized for her performance as the conference named her A-10 women's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week.
Critchlow, who entered the weekend with a team-best two shutouts, was stellar between the net for SJU on Friday, turning away nine shots to help the Hawks to a 1-0 victory at Rhode Island. On Sunday, the Hawks found themselves out shot 31-12, but again it was Critchlow coming up with 12 big saves to help Saint Joseph's preserve a 1-1 double overtime draw with Dayton.
For the week, the Wall, New Jersey native collected 21 saves, posted a 0.45 goals-against-average and earned her third shutout of the young season. On the year, Critchlow leads the Hawks with 38 saves, a 5-0-1 record and a 0.84 goals against average in seven appearances.
