Flying Falcons Stellar in Win over Lacey
Everyone contributed in solid performance
On a cold November afternon, the Falcons took to the field for a showdown with Lacey. Missing Emma and Ava,who were on vacation and Alex who was out with an injury, the Falcons had every right to be concerned. The Falcons took control of the ball right from the start. Rebecca scored two minutes in with a towering shot over the head of the Lacey goalie.   While they were still cheering on the sideline, a mere two minutes later Maggie took a pass from Shelly and left footed, put the ball into the back of the goal. Coach Tom was particularily pleased as Saturday’s practice in the rain concentrated on using left foot practice. The Falcons continued to play hard. Grace was constantly battling hard with her Lacey counterpart. The Falcons kept the ball on the Lacey side of the field for much of the first half; so much so that Jenny barely touched the ball all half. Twenty five minutes in, Marissa took a great cross from Shelly and pounded the ball in for the 3-0 lead. With five minutes left in the first half, it looked like the Falcons could coast to a nice half time break. That’s when Rebecca crossed a great ball on a corner kick. Amanda took the rebound and pounded it into the back of the Lacey goal for her first goal of the season and the 4-0 lead.

With a comfortable lead, Coach Tom put Sophie in goal and put Jenny up front. to starat the second half. Twenty minutes into the second half, Marissa scored again with a powerful kick. A mere two minutes later,  Shannon took a great pass from Jenny and scored for the 6-0 lead. It was Maggie’s chance to play goal now. With the Falcon’s backing off a bit and practicing passing, Lacey got a chance to get near the falcon goal. Maggie was tested a few times and did a great job of stopping the Lacey attack.
The game ended with the Falcons dominating and securing the 6-0 win. The Falcon’s play their final game of the season next week.
